The Matthew Elvidge Trust

This year 2014 Bates Solicitors is supporting a new charity located within a few miles of our four Hampshire offices.

The Trust was set up in 2010 by Matthew’s parents and members of the Elvidge family after Matthew took his own life following a short period of depression.

The aim of the Trust is to increase awareness of the issue.

The following facts taken from the Trusts website are stark:

•  Suicide is the greatest cause of death amongst young men aged between 16 and 34 in the UK

•  In 2011 there were 6,045 recorded suicides in the UK (an increase of 437 or 7.8% on 2010 –  5,608). This is more than 16 per day. 4,552 were male and suicide amongst young people is a significant and increasing problem.

Bates Solicitors are supporting the charity by sponsoring their runners in this years Fleet Half Marathon on Sunday morning 16 March 2014.
