Bates Solicitors are pleased to again sponsor The Matthew Elvidge Trust at the Fleet Half Marathon 2016.

The Trust was set up in 2010 by Matthew’s parents and members of the Elvidge family after Matthew took his own life following a short period of depression.  Suicide in young men is the single largest cause of death.

One of the key aims of the Trust is to increase awareness of the issue.

The following facts taken from the Trusts website are stark:

• Suicide is the greatest cause of death amongst young men aged between 16 and 34 in the UK
•  In 2011 there were 6,045 recorded suicides in the UK (an increase of 437 or 7.8% on 2010   –   5,608). This is more than 16 per day. 4,552 were male and suicide amongst young people is a significant and increasing problem.

100% of the sponsorship monies raised by the runners will go to fund the work of the Charity.   The Trustees hope in excess of 150 people will again run in aid of the Trust.
